We celebrated Mr. C's birthday in March. He had to work a looooooooong day on his actual birthday so we celebrated at nearly 10pm with yummy cake & ice cream. Mr. C couldn't wait long enough to actually SLICE the cake...
We also had a fantastic Saturday that weekend with NO WORK, a good run, a visit with Momma C, some quick shopping, a haircut, birthday dinner at Chili's, and a movie back home on our beloved Couch. Its been a very long time since we've had a Saturday to do whatever we please. And it was AMAZING.
On Pi Day we had Shepherd's Pie. It was in the shape of a square, but it was the thought that really mattered. That and the taste, and the taste was quite delightful. We also had a lovely green salad and I must say that tomatoes make every salad better. And later that night we stopped at The Chocolate and split a piece of The Cherub that, before being sliced, was ROUND. Skidoosh!
That's the best bacon you'll ever have, right there.
We celebrated our 6-month anniversary with an incredible brunch at Communal in Provo (Yes, I voluntarily went to Utah County). Everything there is amazing and the biscuit really probably IS the best biscuit I've ever had! After brunch we "toured" the University campus. This mainly involved walking across campus from the South end to the North and pointing at buildings. We did stop in the JSB to sample the Church Soap, the Bean Museum to sample the AWESOMENESS of dead animals, and the Creamery on Ninth to sample the ice cream. Yay! We headed home via a shopping stop to load up on Easter candy and grill accessories so we could finally get our delightful wedding gift up and running. This was ALSO a fantastic Saturday!A Note on Easter Candy: We bought a bunch, but the candy is all tucked away--currently unopened!--in a glorious spot hereafter known as The Bag of Happiness. It sits right in the door of our pantry and every time I walk by I get really happy knowing that in just a couple weeks that bag will be opened and life will overflow with the joyous thing that IS Easter Candy. The End.
With the paragraph above in mind, Mr. C and I have been talking recently about the need to be better in our HEALTHY eating habits. This is something of a cycle with us ("Let's be healthy!"...no treats for a few days...Mrs. O'C makes cookies...healthy eating goes to H--- in a handbasket..."Let's be healthy!" ETC.) but we really do want to be better. However, after a recent "let's be healthy!" convo I found myself buying two packages of M&M's and Birthday Cake Oreos so...we obviously need to work on it a bit more. We've settled on a plan of eating treats/desserts only on weekends. And then we can't be BINGING. We've done it for one week so far and...so far, so good. Let's see what the next few weeks hold, I guess!
We refinanced our mortgage. Look at us being all ADULT and stuff!
We've also had our fair share of colds, viruses, never-going-away-coughs, and general "I feel poopy" days. Juice and throat/cough drops are a typical sight around the ol' homestead these days. Should we blame our time in nursery? Probably not, but we do. Anyway, with Airborne in hand and a ready supply of tissues, we hope to survive. What else can we do? (Except perhaps wear Hazmat suits each Sunday which would likely send a quick message to the bishopric. Hmm...)
We saw The Hunger Games on opening night. We were both totally freaked out because its INTENSE. And we both loved it. I've read it and thought it was an exceptional rendering of the book--especially the casting!--and though Mr. C has not read the book, he found it a good movie overall. But NOT for the faint of heart.
This last week of March we have regular work/school, a night in Park City, a wedding reception (our fourth this month!), and the best part of all--GENERAL CONFERENCE!! Lookin' forward to it.
Good Things: The Chocolate, Disney, boot camp workouts, Ruby Snap, back massages, water, 5-meat stuffed pizza, days off, Peter Pan, codeine cough syrup, 3.75%, grilling on the patio, Bag of Happiness, and Amazon Prime Instant Video.
